In the test, the WinterContact TS 870 met the high demands of the editorial staff: “Test winner with well-balanced, strong performance in all weather conditions, short braking distances, very high mileage,” was the verdict of AUTO BILD’s tyre and test experts on Continental’s WinterContact TS 870.
WinterContact TS 870 is designed for mini to mid-size cars. Even sporty compact cars can get through the cold season safely with this winter tyre. The wide product range includes tyres with diameters from 14 to 18 inches, cross sections from 40 to 70 series, and widths from 155 to 225 millimeters – including models with rim protection ribs and XL markings for increased load capacity. Speed ratings are up to 240 km/h.
Continental’s Semperit, Uniroyal, and Barum brands also perform well
The performance of the Continental group brands Semperit, Uniroyal and Barum was also pleasing. The winter specialist Speed-Grip 5 from Semperit also received the rating “exemplary” with an overall score of 1.4: “Inexpensive second brand that performs well in all weather conditions, very high mileage, low rolling resistance,” was the verdict of the editors. Uniroyal’s WinterExpert received a “good” rating: “balanced, safe wet handling, good mileage, low rolling resistance.” The Barum Polaris 5 was rated “satisfactory”.
