European Winter Doesn’t Stop Pirelli On The Track

Pirelli has signed an agreement to acquire 100% of Hevea-Tec, the biggest independent processor of natural rubber in Brazil.

Pirelli adds another series of prestigious events with an innovative format to its already extensive portfolio of GT and F4 championships, for which it is the sole global supplier.

The Gedlich Racing Winter Series, which takes place during the winter months on some of the most challenging circuits in Spain and Portugal, aims to give drivers and teams involved in the GT and F4 series the opportunity to continue racing even when the main championships are on their winter break, taking advantage of the favourable weather in southern Europe.

Now in its fifth season, the Winter Series comprises four different types of competition, open to professional and amateur drivers. Pirelli will support the three main events with both tyre supply and on-circuit technical assistance, as it does for all the championships in which it is involved: the GT Winter Series for GT2 and GT3, the GT4 Winter Series and the Formula Winter Series for F4.

There are seven race weekends on the 2025 calendar. The first event will be held at Estoril from the 16th to 19th January, while the last one will take place in Barcelona on the weekend of 14th to 16th March, featuring the 6 Hours race, introduced for the first time this year. Another new round is the 6 Hours of Portimao, scheduled from 31st January to 2nd February.

“Becoming a partner of the Winter Series and supporting a rapidly-growing promoter holds dual strategic importance for us: it fulfils our commitment to the Gran Turismo and F4 series, extending it across the entire year, and also allows us to consolidate our position in the Iberian market,” comments Matteo Braga, Circuit Activity Manager. “Furthermore, this is an important challenge, as we will need to implement the organisational and logistical framework used in major international championships, at local level. On the product side, we are all set, as we can rely on a range of tyres that have been extensively tested and highly commended by teams and drivers, both in GT and single-seater racing.”

For the Gran Turismo cars, Pirelli will supply the latest-generation P Zero DHF tyres which were used on GTWC cars last year, along with the Cinturato wet-weather range in its various iterations . The F4 cars will be fitted with DMA tyres for dry conditions, and the Cinturato WS tyres in the wet.
