The ID. Buzz is set to bring back the classic shape and styling of the Volkswagen campervan, modernising the iconic vehicle by releasing it only with an electric powertrain which is expected to deliver 250 miles of range from a 77 kWh battery pack. These impressive figures are helped by Goodyear’s range of tyres that are engineered to minimise rolling resistance without sacrificing performance.
Goodyear will supply summer, winter and all-season tyres as original equipment to the ID. Buzz range: Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5, UltraGrip Performance+ and Vector 4Seasons Gen-3.
The Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 has been selected for its handling in dry and wet weather conditions. Engineered for superior comfort, the tyre will be available for 18-inch fitments. The tyre is a proven test winner that strands up impressively in wet weather and efficiency. Being an electric vehicle, the ID. Buzz requires a tyre that can handle the characteristics of an electric powertrain while remaining comfortable and quiet.
Goodyear UltraGrip Performance+ is designed to give optimum performance in snow and ice while maintaining a strong level of grip in the dry. Available on 18 and 20-inch rims, the tyre includes features that yield excellent braking distances on snow, optimised tread wear and reduced risk of aquaplaning. As part of Goodyear’s extensive winter tyre range, UltraGrip Performance+ comes with the 3PMSF (Three Peak Mountain Snowflake) logo, designating it as designed specifically for ice and snow conditions.
For an all-season solution, Goodyear will also make available the Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 tyre. It will be available as 235/60R18 (front) and 255/55R18 (rear) fitting for those wanting the best all-round performance in any weather condition. This tyre model also comes with the 3PMSF (Three Peak Mountain Snowflake) logo.
Hans Vrijsen, Managing Director Consumer OE, Goodyear EMEA: “We are privileged to have been selected by Volkswagen to supply the tyres for the ID. Buzz. With the three tyres available, we have every condition covered. As an EV, we have put extra consideration into minimising rolling resistance, and with electrification being a key part of Goodyear’s strategy, we have a wide range of tyres suited to the demands and performance of electric cars.”
